Sweet Sleep
And if tonight my soul may find her peace
in sleep, and sink in good oblivion,
and in the morning wake like a new-opened flower
then I have been dipped again in God, and new-created.
-D.H. Lawrence
I had the sweetest sleep last night, given that it was quite short, from 2 to 7AM. Short but sweet.
You know that someone loves you so dearly when one of his joys comes from watching you while you sleep.
Not like my previous sleep deprived weeks. It was so bad that even my skin was breaking out. Gosh, I cannot let myself be in the same predicament again.
Now, blessings light on him that first invented sleep! It covers a man all over, thoughts and all, like a cloak; it is meat for the hungry, drink for the thirsty, heat for the cold, and cold for the hot. It is the current coin that purchases all the pleasures of the world cheap, and the balance that sets the king and the shepherd, the fool and the wise man, even. -Miguel de Cervantes, Don Quixote, 1605
It really a week’s worth of good sleep, and the long weekend before that, to bounce back. Last night, I decided to finally turn off my alarm clocks (yes, plural). I still woke up early, but it was because of my body clock, not because I was interrupted from deep slumber.
There is no hope for a civilization which starts each day to the sound of an alarm clock.
It really made a lot of difference
I also found through the stresses of the weeks past, that there’s no better solution from the quagmire of despair than a good night’s sleep. Whatever problems I had the night before, it almost always gets solved in the morning. I remember my former manager - one who I would just like to be management-wise when I get there - Rina, during these situations. There would be times early in the morning that she would say something like “I dreamt about this problem last night and I think this is the solution” or something to that effect. Given that she really drove our team to success, I believed she really had enough sleep everyday
The best bridge between despair and hope is a good night’s sleep.

Hope you have worry free slumbers this weekend
