This is, by far, the biggest challenge that I encountered in my running career - my first 10 Kilometer run. I knew that it would be a challenge, but I was not prepared for the compounded things that happened that made this run more challenging.

It happened because I broke a cardinal rule in running - to sleep well the night before. In fact, I wasn’t able to sleep at all. I was tossing and turning, perhaps nervous about the event. In the end, I did finish the race (yey yey yey!!!), but I had to endure low blood sugar levels, depleted electrolytes (I had to run through a cramp!!!), and indigestion (ugh!!!)
But… I finished the race, so, yey to me
More pics will come in the next few days. Right now, I really have to pass out…

I can’t help but keep on listening (and sometimes weep a little) to the song Home that was recently covered by Kristine Chenoweth
When I think of home, I think of a place
Where there’s love overflowing
I wish I was home, I wish I was back there
With the things I’ve been knowing
Wind that makes the tall grass bend into leaning
Suddenly the raindrops that fall have a meaning
Sprinkling the scene makes it all clean
I realized very recently where, or to whom, my heart resides - and it makes me happy and almost overwhelmed. Continue Reading »

Hindsight is always wiser than foresight - Bo Sanchez
I saw this on Bo Sanchez’s blog entry about taking risks. It is very timely because I am trying my hand at taking one. It further said that
Persons who stay in the Comfort Zone stop growing and lose their edge, their passion, and their joy for living
and it really hit me Continue Reading »

I believe in bestowing my religious morals, rituals and views upon myself and not upon others.
I read this somewhere and it brought back the same idea that I’ve been toying in my head. Sometimes you experience bigotry from others. In my case, more often than not it’s from people who impose upon me their religious beliefs.
I feel sorry for them because they only have their religion to cling to, and no full understanding about it even. What I have is a deep relationship with my God. I understand, no, I know that my belief system is a faith that is based on love - and because of that - my love matters.
My love matters.

I still can’t believe that I’ve been running almost 2 years (just a few months more). I can’t believe that I’ve been running injury-free after all this time. It pays to do your homework.

Recently I’ve come treat this sport of mine as a personal journey - just as it has always been during the majority of my stint. Every runner is different, anyway

For my 2nd year anniversary as a runner, I’m doing something special
This is exciting!

We went kayaking at Pearl Farm’s other island. You get there via a speedboat which you can get on for free anytime of the day.

There’s also a diving board at a deep end of the sea.
