Crepes and Scream

Published by midnightanxiety under Friends, Fun

Sorry I just wanted to make the title Halloweeney hehe :-)  So we went to Crepes and Cream today.  I brought my camera with a new lens mounted - the Sigma 18-200mm yadda yadda

I made Joanne pose, saying “Kunwari hinihintay mo… (Pretend that you’re waiting…)” lol :-D

Outside it was mighty humid, but still nice…  The best time to grab an ice cream…

I personally think this is the money shot for today.  Another pretend pic, we were making Janelle try to do those commercial yummy bites.  You know, the way they do it in Jollibee and Mcdo commercials :-D

Enjoy your weekend everyone!!!

Pre-halloween Drinking

Published by midnightanxiety under Friends, Fun

We spent the last hours of the 30th here.

Just look at the picture above.  The look of what could only be described as bewilderment on Lara’s face (the girl in yellow) is just priceless. :-D

Enjoy the Halloween everyone!!!

Utopia

Published by midnightanxiety under Spirituality

I was reading up on Sir Thomas More, or Saint Thomas More since 1935, writer of Utopia.

250px-hans_holbein_d__j__065.jpg

In his work, he said,

If a man did not believe in a god or in an afterlife he could never be trusted, because, logically, he would not acknowledge any authority or principle outside himself.

It got me thinking… I’ve never really met a lot of atheists in my life, but one I do continue to trust the most, a colleague in College.  I trust him as per our agreement to look after each other’s welfare (academically and professionally) way back then.  I guess if you have to take this path, one has to have a high sense of morality, since you cannot base your compass of morality on anything else but yourself.

As for me, I still believe that my spirit emanates from God.  Actually, I feel it with every fiber of my being.

Jeffy

Published by midnightanxiety under Friends, Work

I was testing my equipment at the office last Thursday when my lens went to follow Ronald as he got to his meeting.

It would be interesting to find out if Ronald gets inside every room he gets into in the same fashion.  But I haven’t got that much time. :-D  Anyway, I found out that the meeting was with my friend Jeffrey’s team.  So, I asked if they wanted a last photo with him since it was his last day at the Firm.

Goodluck on your new journey, Jeffy - as Steph affectionately calls him.  We surely are going to miss you!

The Fever

Published by midnightanxiety under Film, Society

I saw this film last night.  I was dragged in by the strong message and Vanessa Redgrave’s performance.

 thefever1.jpg

 thefever2.jpg

Oscar-winner Vanessa Redgrave stars in this HBO Films adaptation of writer/actor Wallace Shawn’s deeply personal stage play about the high cost of enlightenment, and the ever-widening gap between those who have and those who have not. Redgrave plays a nameless woman from a privileged world, suffering from a sense of disconnection from her comfortable life, who travels to a country (also nameless) in the throes of civil war. Suddenly deliriously ill, she collapses in a hotel bathroom, and, confronts an internal chorus of conflicting voices: dreams of comfort from her past, images of physical and economic violence, accusations of indifference, and cold-blooded arguments in favor of oppression. The central question: what, if anything, is a morally consistent way to live in the world as it is? Directed by Carlo Nero and featuring Joely Richardson, Rade Sherbedgia and Geraldine James.

Enlightenment can be brutal.

The Promise of Gratitude

Many people who order their lives rightly in all other ways are kept in poverty by their lack of gratitude…  It is impossible to bring more into your life if you are feeling ungrateful for what you have. The Secret

The fundamentals of my belief system has always been geared towards gratitude and positivity.  I think everyone should understand that inorder to receive the gifts of the Universe, one has to cease to dislike or reject the present environment or what one currently possess.  There is always grace in giving thanks to God.

Around the Block

Published by midnightanxiety under Fun

Checking my camera phone, I  realized that I’ve been quite lazy in uploading downloading photos from it.  There’s a month’s worth of photos in there!  Most of food from around our area at the Fort. :-D

Sakae Sushi.  The salmon teriyaki Steph got looks good, and the crab roll is more than filling haays.  I think I’ll go back there this week :-D.  This place is still the number 1 therapeutic place for both of us Japanese Cuisine addicts.

Paul Calvin’s Deli.  Here’s a treat.  Chef Jonathan has been serving breakfast and lunch buffet for about a couple of weeks now.  Affordable and delicious - two of my favorite adjectives hehe.  He will personally make pasta and omelet for you on the spot.  We went here twice this week :-D

and lastly, dessert

Numa.  This nice lunch and tea place also serves nice desserts.  I think I’ve ordered their Baileys Chocolate Cake more than once. :-)

What do you think friends?  Once more around the block?! :-D

The Camera Bag Post

Published by midnightanxiety under Geekazoids

Like I said a few days ago, I got my new lens and flash last Saturday.  I scoped it out from this neat local site called dponline.  I think it’s a great place to get all your DSLR needs since they can deliver it to you hassle-free.

The flash especially improved my photos (from the Cosplay Mania) a lot. :-)

So I find that my present bag isn’t gonna work for me anymore.  I am now eyeing this Tamrac System 6 bag at dponline.  My friends say that when it comes to bags for your DSLRs, the bigger the better.  I’m pushing the limit with this one.  :-)

The price is very reasonable by the way.  Do check the site out, I highly recommend it.

Come to Papa :)

This is falling on my lap soon…

10-12-08-nokia_e71.jpg

I’m must have (semi) subconsciously secreted it out.  You know what I always say - I’ve attracted things and circumstances - such that today I actually have the reason to buy it, not to mention the extra-extra funds to do so.  You see, today I am officially without a main phone.  Someone asked me yesterday if I wanted to sell my over-a-year-old-smartphone (Nokia E61i).  This person wanted to get it last night and was paying cash.  Yes… right then and there out-of-the-blue cold cash…  It’s so The Secret!  My friend Rach said that Ronda Rhonda Byrne (Author of The Secret) must really interview me for an update of her audio book one day hehe.

But I do remember asking for it once, by this time I have totally forgotten.  Not just the funds, but also the reason to let go of that E61.  But that’s exactly how it works, no?!

Whatever, I just finished doing my gratitude dance early this morning O_O haha.

Cosplay Madness

Published by midnightanxiety under Anime, Fun

There are very few people who could be more fun than cosplayers.  They’ve gathered again in this year’s Cosplay Mania.  I went there with a number of fellow photog hobbyists.  Go to my galleries to see all 125 of my photos :-)

Saw some of the faces from Anicon, some in fact have been acquaintances since then.

But there were a lot of new ones too…

This girl had the cutest Sakura costume and knew how to work it hehehe.  I especially liked the pair of Sailor Senshis. :-)

The costumes were not just Anime inspired, some were American.

J, Sean and I (we work in the firm together) ended the evening discussing lenses and camera stuff over dinner.  I love fun Sundays :-)

If you guys want the original sizes of the pics here and in the gallery, just contact me. :-)  Again, the link to my galleries is here

New Lens Test

Published by midnightanxiety under Friends, Geekazoids

I just bought myself a lens today, the Nikorr 50mm f/1.8D, and a Nikon SB-600 Flash.

(Hiram, he brought the new lens and flash for me today.  Thanks Hiram!)

I like it.  I’ll use it tomorrow at the Cosplay Mania Event. :-D
