Save the Babies, Save the World

Published by midnightanxiety under Featured Blog

Heartbreaking, isn’t it?

This is the situation at the Fabella Hospital.  I read this on Chuvaness and thought it was sad and hopeless, for about 30 seconds, because after that I realized that we can do something about it.  Affect good change, why not? :-)

Click on the picture or this link to find out what to do. :-)

A Prayer

This made me tear up a little when I read it on Chuvaness.

Prayer for a Happy Death (2004)
By Corazon Aquino

Almighty God, most merciful Father
You alone know the time
You alone know the hour
You alone know the moment
When I shall breathe my last.

So remind me each day, most loving Father
To be the best that I can be
To be humble, to be kind,
To be patient, to be true,
To embrace what is good
To reject what is evil
To adore only You.

When that final moment does come
Let not my loved ones grieve for long
Let them comfort each other
And let them know how much happiness
They brought into my life.
Let them pray for me
As I will continue to pray for them,
Hoping that they will always pray for each other.
Let them know that they made possible
Whatever good I offered to our world
And let them realize that our separation
Is just for a short while
As we prepare for our reunion in eternity.

Our Father in heaven
You alone are my hope
You alone are my salvation
Thank You for Your unconditional love. Amen.

I can’t help but remember my mother.  Like Cory, she died peacefully, minutes after I was able to tell her that I loved her.  In those final moments that we were staring at each other, soul to soul, I felt a deep sense of closure, forgiveness and love.

Like the late former president, my mother was a Marian devotee.  I know in my heart that like her, Mrs. Aquino is received with open arms in heaven.

Feelings vs. Opinions

Published by midnightanxiety under Featured Blog, Friends

I read this on chuvaness and it hit close to home.

If you don’t like something, it is not necessary to say so if circumstances cannot be changed.
For example, if your friend buys an ugly dress and is stuck with it, don’t tell her it’s ugly.
Many times a person’s feelings are more important than your opinion.

Have a great day everyone :-)

The HR Code

Published by midnightanxiety under Featured Blog, Fun

This is very funny but some are true - decoding the Human Resources Code by Joke of the Day

COMPETITIVE SALARY
Most of our competitors don’t pay much either.

“JOIN OUR FAST-PACED COMPANY”
We have no time to train you.

“CASUAL WORK ATMOSPHERE”
You’ll be here very late, very often — might as well be comfortable.

“MUST BE DEADLINE-ORIENTED”
Your first four projects are already way overdue.

“SOME OVERTIME REQUIRED”
Did we mention that you’ll be here very late, very often? And most weekends.

“DUTIES WILL VARY”
Anyone in the office can boss you around.

“MUST HAVE AN EYE FOR DETAIL”
We have no quality control.

“CAREER-MINDED”
Female applicants must be childless.

“APPLY IN PERSON”
If you’re old, fat or ugly, that position has already been filled.

“NO PHONE CALLS PLEASE”
This job listing is just a legal formality. The position was filled by some executive’s nephew.

“SEEKING CANDIDATES WITH A WIDE VARIETY OF EXPERIENCE”
Due to consolidation, you’ll be replacing three people.

“PROBLEM-SOLVING SKILLS A MUST”
This company is a total mess.

“REQUIRES TEAM LEADERSHIP SKILLS”
You’ll have all the responsibilities of upper management, without the pay, title or respect.

“GOOD COMMUNICATION SKILLS”
Listen to management, figure out what they want, don’t ask too many questions and get the sh*t done.

Officemates, what do you think?!? :-D

Joke Time

Published by midnightanxiety under Featured Blog, Fun

What Not to Say to a Policeman - from Joke of the Day

  • I can’t reach my license unless you hold my beer.
  • Sorry, Officer, I didn’t realize I was driving.
  • Wow, you must’ve been doing about 125 mph to keep up with me!
  • I was going to be a cop, but I decided to finish high school instead.
  • You’re not gonna check the trunk, are you?
  • You look just like my girlfriend’s deadbeat ex-husband.
  • The question is — do YOU know why you pulled me over?
  • I was trying to keep up with traffic, and it’s miles ahead of me.
  • If you have to ask if I’ve been drinking, I’m not going to tell you, dude.
  • It wasn’t my fault — when I reached down to roll this joint, my gun fell off my lap and got lodged under the brake pedal.
  • That’s a sweet 9mm. You want to hold my .44 magnum?
  • If I’d known I was getting a full body cavity search, I would have waxed!

One reaction from me - lmao!!!

Have a Laugh

Published by midnightanxiety under Featured Blog, Fun

I just discovered this site today:  Joke of the Day

This is funny :D

A police officer pulls over a driver and informs him that he has just won $5,000 in a safety competition, all because he is wearing his seat belt.

“What are you going to do with the prize money?” the officer asks.

The man responds, “I guess I’ll go to driving school and get my license.”

His wife says, “Officer, don’t listen to him. He’s a smart aleck when he’s drunk.”

The guy in the back seat pops up out from under the blanket and says, “I knew we wouldn’t get far in this stolen car.”

Just then a knock comes from the trunk and a voice calls out, “Are we over the border yet?”

And this too :D

Three old ladies sit in a diner, discussing their health.

One lady says, “You know, I’m getting really forgetful. This morning, I was standing at the top of the stairs, and I couldn’t remember whether I had just come up or was about to go down.”

The second lady says, “You think that’s bad? The other day, I was sitting on the edge of my bed, and I couldn’t remember whether I was going to sleep or had just woken up!”

The third lady smiles smugly. “Well, my memory is just as good as it’s always been, knock on wood,” she says as she raps on the table. Then with a startled look on her face, she asks, “Who’s there?”

The site promises to make you laugh at least once a day.  Better than vitamins for a stressful day (Which I forgot if I did take today hehe), no?!

On other news, is this really President GMA’s TwitterParang ang legit e!!!

Google Reader Gadget

Published by midnightanxiety under Featured Blog

Thank you(!!!) Google People for finally creating this gadget for iGoogle.  Now I can finally see all my google stuff on one page :-)

googlereaderonigoogle.JPG

And see, I did my Reader Homework, I have no unread items.  Don’t you hate it when you don’t get to surf Google reader for a few days only to find that you have 500++ unread items when you finally check it? :-D

For those not yet in the know, Google Reader is a tool by the same company to read blogs using rss, and iGoogle is a more personal way to use Google utilizing widgets or gadgets.

Anyhoo, I’m wishing that everyone is enjoying their weekend :-D

Who Wants to Play Chinese Garter?

Published by midnightanxiety under Featured Blog, Friends, Fun, Work

Our group’s 2nd Sportsfest was held yesterday and I’m glad to have lent a hand into its transpiring.

img-1489.JPG

(Thanks to J San Juan and Marlon Ignacio for the superb pics)

The theme was essentially Filipino street games - the stuff that we played when we were kids.  The events were Patintero, Batuhang Bola and a relay of various favorites:  Jackstone, Skipping rope, Piko, Sipa and Chinese Garter.

Note:  No stunt doubles were hurt during the shooting of these pictures. :-D

Of course, since we were in-charge here, it was made certain that the food would be super delicious!!!  Here’s Joanne and Rubi, co-committee members, preparing the food the caterers brought in.

img-0363.jpg

This is most of the committee members who made the event possible and the hard work fun to do!

img-1637.JPG

Congrats to the Green team for becoming this year’s Champions!…

img-1459.JPG

… and of course the Blue Team’s Muse - Jack - for winning the most votes.  Here she is seen with the last KEG’s reigning Queen Lara :-D

img-1771.JPG

To my team, the Black Team, you did a great job!  Kudos!!!

I’m happy that despite the mishaps (our flaming taxi accident over C5 - for later read), the event was such a success.  Everyone worked hard and played hard.  :-)

I’m Back-logged

Published by midnightanxiety under Featured Blog

So I’m back from our trip.  Yes, to the few who saw me limping my way to the office, we went to Sagada.  I’m happy to report that we all survived.  Bruised and sore nonetheless, but living. :-)  Oh God I have so much to blog, and so many more to read.  I checked my reader and saw this

imbacklog.JPG

A weekend away from the computer…  That’s not a very long time…  On top of the mountain of reading materials, I’m excited to write about Surviving Sagada:-)

God, as I have asked you tens of times while facing death defying odds on the mountain top, please grant me the strength and creativity of mind to give justice, in words, the beauty that you let us to witness.  More importantly, the beauty that you have granted our one Earth.

As soon as I opened my mail this morning, I realized that I learned one important thing this weekend.  I learned that in the midst of the problems I face, moving forward is really the way to go.  Of course I know that, but it’s awesome to see just to how much extent one is willing to go in that direction just to survive, or reach the light at the end of the tunnel - literally speaking.  Sorry for the cryptic text, but it will be explained in the next entries. :-)

Bed Sheet Sales

Published by midnightanxiety under Featured Blog, Fun

You know the song Fireflies by Faith Hill?  It has such inspiring lyrics.  The chorus goes like this

I believe in fairytales and dreamers dreams like bed sheet sails
And i believe in peter pan and miracles
And anything i can to get by
And fireflies

What’s funny about it is, when it said bed sheet sails, I thought for a minute that it actually meant a sale on bed sheets.  You know, like a sale at a mall.  The crazy shopper in me comes in first all the time.  Anyway, in this regard (how formal!), let me just spread the word

debenhams1.jpg

Marks & Spencer Sale: Up to 60-70% off on selected items while supplies last.

Mphosis Storewide Sale: Up to 50% off on selected items up to August 10.

T Bags and Shoes Greenbelt: Up to 50% off on selected items up to August 31.

I picked that up from ShopCrazy.

This is going to be fun :-)

BrownBag Sessions

Published by midnightanxiety under Featured Blog

Since last week, I’ve been bringing a lunch bag to work.  It’s part of an agreement with the guys to bring our own lunch.  We just plan to splurge on Fridays.  I found this nice lunchbag set at SM by Lock and Lock.

I like it because the whole thing fits right into my Tech Field Bag.

Come Friday we certainly made up for lost lunch out by dining at New Orleans.  I had my usual, a half slab of New Orleans Bbq spare ribs.  Dessert was the best with Chocolate mudslide and some Peanut butter pie.

 new-orleans1.jpg

Picked that photo from Project365.com, because I only remembered to take a photo after leaving the place.  I was too hungry sorry hehe.  But check out the Bonifacio High Street Food tour entry.  It’s nice. :-)

Anyway, that was a fun Friday. :-D
